SGS Launches New Suite of Climate and Energy Transition Services
Testing, inspection and certification company SGS announced today the launch of a series of new climate action services, aimed at supporting companies in their efforts to measure and reduce emissions, comply with new evolving climate regulations and transition to cleaner energy sources.
The new climate services form part of SGS’ recently launched sustainability suite, IMPACT NOW. Announced in November, IMPACT NOW consolidates SGS’ sustainability offerings under four strategic pillars, including climate, circularity, nature and ESG assurance. SGS also recently launched a series of services under the ESG assurance pillar.
New emissions reduction-focused service offerings announced under the climate pillar include GHG emissions consulting; Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) target setup; carbon footprint verification including corporate, product and facility; offset and removal project validation and verification; carbon neutrality claim verification; EU/UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) compliance, and Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) guidance.
The new services also include a series of energy transition focused offerings, such as asset decarbonization services including management systems certification, energy audits and verification of savings, as well as renewable energy capex and opex assurance, new fuels testing and certification, and EV battery testing of power conversion systems (PCS) for energy storage.
SGS CEO Géraldine Picaud said:
“After months of planning, we are thrilled to unveil the Climate pillar within our IMPACT NOW for sustainability portfolio. This new offering combines proven services with innovative solutions to address today’s critical climate challenges.
“We’re here to support efforts to reduce carbon footprints, verify emissions reductions, ensure regulatory compliance and facilitate transitions to cleaner energy.”
