Optera Launches Updated Solution to Help Companies Collect and Report Supply Chain Emissions Data
Sustainability management solutions provider Optera has announced the release of a new update of its Supply Chain Manager with new features aimed at enabling companies to meet increasing regulatory requirements to report on Scope 3 supply chain emissions for purchased goods and services.
With the implementation of regulations such as the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and California’s Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act, companies increasingly require transparent and auditable supply chain emissions data. The Supply Chain Manager platform leverages a database of over 10,000 supplier emissions disclosures to establish baseline coverage of a company’s Scope 3 footprint.
Tim Weiss, CEO and co-founder of Optera, said:
“We’re not just providing a tool; we’re enabling a transformative approach to sustainability. With enhanced supplier data granularity, transparent calculations, and accelerated time to insight, Optera is making it easier than ever for companies to drive climate action throughout their value chains.”
Key new features in the updated platform include the ability to accommodate facility-level and business unit emissions data from suppliers, increased calculation transparency by displaying emissions calculations, sources and emissions factor mapping to support data traceability for sustainability teams, stakeholders, and auditors, automated reporting capabilities to streamline and accelerate submission for the most common reporting frameworks, and an enhanced user interface facilitating collaboration among cross-functional teams.
In a recent poll, the company said that 70% of respondents were working across their value chain to help suppliers decarbonize, 73% have set a science-based target, and more than 90% report emissions either publicly or to regulators and customers. Commenting on the data, Weiss said that “these metrics underscore the critical role our Supply Chain Manager plays in today’s sustainability landscape, giving companies the data and collaborative capabilities necessary to make substantial value chain emissions reductions.”
