Estée Lauder to Implement Sustainable Packaging Technology, Starting with Clinique Bottles
Global prestige beauty company Estée Lauder Companies announced that it is working with materials molding technologies company Roctool to develop and implement sustainable packaging solutions for its products, beginning with bottles for its Clinique brand’s Clarifying Lotion.
Roctool’s Heat & Cool molding technology enables manufacturers to reduce cycle times, allowing enhancements to surface finishes without additional steps of decoration. According to Estée Lauder, applying the technology to Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion bottles will result in a more responsible and simplified packaging approach, with 10% – 15% scrap or waste reduction, while maintaining the high quality of the packaging material.
Mathieu Boulanger, CEO, Roctool, said:
“When we entered the world of beauty a few years back, we could sense the importance of developing more responsible packaging solutions with our molding technology. Today, we are proud to work with The Estée Lauder Companies and Clinique to support their efforts in innovation and sustainability.”
The technology will first be applied to the 200ml Clarifying Lotion bottle, which will initially be rolled out across European markets. Estée Lauder stated that it plans to scale the technology globally across its brand portfolio.
Daniel Ramos, Senior Vice President, Global Packaging, The Estée Lauder Companies, said:
“At The Estée Lauder Companies, we’re continually investing and innovating at every step of our packaging process to help drive more responsible packaging solutions that enable our brands to deliver high-quality, luxury experiences to our consumers. We’re working with industry partners like Roctool to help to improve our packaging design.
