Crocs Goes Vegan as it Targets Net Zero by 2030
Global casual footwear company Crocs announced today a new goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030. In order to achieve its new commitment, the company outlined a series of initiatives across its value chain, ranging from sourcing and packaging to circular economy-focused solutions for products after use.
Crocs CEO Andrew Rees said:
“Taking action to reduce our environmental footprint by implementing more sustainable practices across our entire business is the right thing to do for Crocs.”
One of the key measures being taken by the company is the reduction of the carbon footprint of input ingredients. The company is developing a more sustainable bio-based Croslite material, its predominant footwear material, and the company has committed to be 100% vegan by the end of this year.
Other initiatives targeted by the company include the exploration of a circular supply chain, efforts to keep used products out of landfills, including consumer donations, recycling and re-commerce programs, and the use of renewably sourced energy in its offices and distribution centers.
Rees added:
