Cleantech Startup Rimere Raises $10 Million to Convert Natural Gas and Methane into Sustainable Materials
Climate solutions company Rimere announced a $10 million strategic investment from renewable natural gas (RNG) provider Clean Energy Fuels, with proceeds aimed at advancing Rimere’s solutions to convert methane and natural gas into sustainable materials, including clean hydrogen.
Founded in 2020, Rimere’s sequential hybrid plasma technology breaks apart methane molecules for reconfiguration into cleaner alternatives. The company’s solutions include Reformer, which transforms natural gas into clean hydrogen and high-quality graphene, without creating any CO2 emissions, and can achieve negative carbon intensity if RNG is used as a feedstock, and Mitigator, which reduces the greenhouse gas potency of fugitive methane emissions to provide a low-cost solution for abating methane emissions that escape from the natural gas infrastructure.

First, it was to reduce harmful and unhealthy pollutants caused by large vehicles operating on diesel. More recently, we saw the opportunity of turning fugitive greenhouse gas emissions at agricultural facilities into an ultra-clean transportation fuel. It is a logical next step to make this investment in Rimere which is tackling the challenges facing the natural gas and hydrogen industries to produce cost-effective solutions without emissions.”
According to Rimere, the company’s technology provides solutions for the long-term outlook for natural gas, including utilizing the existing extensive natural gas infrastructure to become infrastructure to deliver clean hydrogen and graphene.
