Aon Hires Lloyd’s of London CEO John Neal for New Climate Solutions Role
Risk capital and human capital solutions provider Aon announced the appointment of John Neal, who has been serving as CEO of insurance marketplace Lloyd’s of London, to the newly created role of Global Chairman of Climate Solutions and as Global CEO of Reinsurance.
In the new role, Neal will efforts to address the growing and complex risks associated with climate change, helping to tackle increasing weather and catastrophe risks through advanced analytics, innovative solutions and new sources of capital, in addition to leading Aon’s Reinsurance team.
According to Aon, the appointment comes as businesses and communities are faced with the need to address increasing volatility driven by climate-related events, with the firm moving to leverage its integrated Risk Capital capabilities to offer solutions for its clients.

Neal has served as CEO of Lloyd’s since 2018. Prior to joining Lloyd’s he served as Group CEO of global insurance and reinsurance business QBE, after holding a series of leadership positions at the company including Chief Underwriting Officer and Chief Operations Officer of the firm’s European operations.

Based in London, Neal will report to Andy Marcell, CEO of Risk Capital for Aon, and serve as a member of the firm’s Risk Capital leadership team.
