AECOM Launches Energy Transition Infrastructure Team
Dallas-based Infrastructure firm AECOM announced today the launch of a new Energy Transition team, aimed at helping clients to address the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition in Europe.
According to the company, the new team is being established in response to needs expressed by European clients and partners, including industrial hubs and port authorities, to prepare for transition to sustainable energy sources, with AECOM positioning itself to capture opportunities from growing demand for energy storage and local solutions such as heat networks and smart grids.
AECOM said that the new platform will provide decarbonization solutions to clients and communities in Europe through its new energy transition proposition, supporting the transition to electrification for buildings and transport with new generation, transmission and storage solutions. The new platform will bring together technical experts from across the business which includes specialists in planning, regulation, sustainable infrastructure, master planning, engineering design, cost and project management and environmental resilience.
The new team will be lead by Helena Rivers, Energy Transition Lead for Europe and India, and Duarte Catarino, Energy Transition Growth Lead for Continental Europe.
Rivers said:
“I am coming up to twenty years at AECOM and this new sector is exactly the forward-thinking clients need in these times of rapid change to our built environment. We recognize that integrated systems thinking will deliver the quickest and most cost and carbon efficient roadmap to a resilient, low carbon future that is equitable and benefits all sectors of society.”
Catarino added:
“I’m eager to leverage AECOM’s expertise to drive impactful energy transition projects across the region. The energy transition is the path for a sustainable future and by combining global sector know-how with our local in-country market knowledge we are well positioned to accelerate change.”
