Pan European Commercial Bank UniCredit announced today that it has hired Roberta Marracino as Head of Group ESG Strategy & Impact Banking. In her new role, Roberta will focus on strategy definition and the dedicated execution of the Group’s environmental, social and governance initiatives and commitments, oversee the Group’s Social Impact Bank, and will also coordinate the UniCredit Foundation’s activities.  Roberta will join as a member of the UniCredit Executive Management Committee (EMC), and will report to Wouter Devriendt, Head of Finance & Controls.

She has been given a strong mandate to lead and develop our ESG activities across UniCredit’s unique pan-European network. Going forward, the team under the leadership of Roberta will have a key role developing and driving our ESG commitments and further accelerate Group wide implementation.”

Roberta joins UniCredit from Zurich Insurance plc., where she was Head of Business Innovation & Market Management (Italy), responsible for stimulating and guiding innovation in Italy and coordinating the activities of retail market management, market analysis and client proposition . Prior to Zurich Insurance, she was Executive Director of Research, Communication, Corporate Social Value and Export Competence Training at SACE and Director of Research and Communication for the Mediterranean Area at McKinsey & Company. She has also served as a Board Member for BPER Banca, as a member of Member of the Control and Risk Committee as well as the Remuneration and Nomination Committees.

Maurizio Beretta, who successfully developed UniCredit’s ESG and the Social Impact Banking initiatives in recent years, will continue as President of the UniCredit Foundation and Head of Group Institutional Affairs. Maurizio will also remain a member of the UniCredit Executive Management Committee.
