Carrier Announces First ESG Goals Since Launching as Independent Company
Sustainable building and refrigeration solutions company Carrier announced today the launch of a broad set of new ESG goals, covering areas including carbon emissions, water use, diversity and inclusion, and sustainable supply chain. The company also stated that it is aiming to reduce its customers’ carbon footprint by more than one gigaton, supported by a planned investment of more than $2 billion over the next 10 years toward the development of healthier, safer and more sustainable building and cold chain solutions.
Carrier completed its separation from United Technologies Corporation in April 2020, establishing itself as an independent HVAC, refrigeration and fire & security company. The new goals are the first sustainability targets announced by the company since the spin-off.
Carrier’s 2030 ESG goals include achieving carbon and water neutrality, reducing energy intensity by 10%, delivering zero-waste to landfill from manufacturing locations, establishing a responsible supply chain program, achieving gender parity in senior leadership roles, investing in STEM education programs that promote diversity and inclusion, and promoting in STEM education programs that promote diversity and inclusion, among others.
