Schneider Electric, PCAF Partner to Help Banks, Investors Measure & Report Financed Emissions
Energy and automation digital solutions provider Schneider Electric and the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) announced today a new partnership, with Schneider Electric becoming the first global sustainability consultants to join the PCAF accredited partnership program, aimed at supporting banks and investors to measure and report financed emissions.
The PCAF is a global partnership of financial institutions, launched globally in 2019 with a mission to develop and implement a harmonized approach to assess and disclose the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with loans and investments. The initiative has developed standards for measuring and disclosing financed emissions, facilitated emissions associated with capital markets issuances, and insurance-associated emissions.
In 2023, PCAF launched an accredited partner program, enabling collaboration with service providers such as consultancies, data providers, and software providers, in order to support financial institutions in applying the PCAF Standard. PCAF also launched the PCAF Academy e-learning platform to help signatories and partners to build expertise in GHG accounting.
Bart Van Lunteren, Head of Partnerships for PCAF, said:
“We look forward to working closely with Schneider Electric to enhance the capabilities of financial institutions in measuring and reporting their carbon emissions. Our accredited partnership program is a crucial part of our efforts to support financial institutions in their efforts towards decarbonization and is key to accelerating the transition towards a more sustainable and equitable global economy.”
Schneider Electric’s sustainability consulting business offers a range of services aimed at helping companies to understand and act on environmental risks and opportunities, with offerings ranging from climate change strategy and solutions, sustainability reporting and climate risk, to renewables and cleantech, procurement services, and supply chain decarbonization.
Under the new partnership, Schnieder Electric will leverage its sustainability consulting experience to help financial institutions improve GHG disclosures, and to integrate decarbonization strategies and implementation roadmaps into their investment profiles, after it undergoes the accreditation process by completing the PCAF Academy.
Erik Mohn, Vice President, Global Sustainability Consultancy and Reporting Services for Schneider Electric, said:
“We are excited to be PCAF’s inaugural global sustainability consultant partner which underscores our dedication to equipping organizations with the tools and expertise needed to navigate financed emissions accounting effectively. Together, we aim to improve the measurement and disclosure of investment related emissions and support our clients in their portfolio decarbonization efforts.”
