Teva Commits to Net Zero Across Value Chain, 100% Renewable Energy
Multinational pharmaceutical company Teva Pharmaceutical announced a series of new sustainability goals, including targets to achieve net zero emissions across the company’s operations and value chain by 2045 and to reach 100% renewable electricity across all Teva sites by 2035.
The new goals were announced alongside the release of Teva’s 2023 Healthy Future Report, outlining the company’s initiatives under its “Healthy Futures” sustainability strategy.
Teva had previously set a 2025 target to achieve a 25% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions. According to the report, the company reduced its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 27% compared to 2019, surpassing its target two years ahead of schedule. Teva also reduced its Scope 3 emissions by 12% compared to 2020, against its goal of a 25% reduction by 2030.
The report also included a new goal to reach 200% more total beneficiaries of health system strengthening and capacity building initiatives in support of underserved populations by 2026, on a 2022-2023 basis. According to the report, the company has launched 7 access to medicine programs, nearing its goal of 8 programs by 2025, including two new recent programs in Spain and Chile.
As a global company headquartered in Israel, Teva also reported that its employees volunteered more than 7,000 hours of their time following the events of October 7, and that its also established the “Support the Soul” program, aimed at helping therapists address trauma treatment and support mental resilience in Israel.
